Hey Friends!
I want to start out by apologizing for not having written you anything in awhile. Truth be told, I was in the hospital for a few days in April, and had several days of recovery after. I had a procedure to do some testing for the neurological issues I have been having with my chronic illness (i.e. two of my brain lobes are atrophying quite a bit more than they should at my age), and the procedure was invasive. There were side-effects that are rare, and you know your girl had every single one of them and then landed in the hospital for it! *insert eye roll here*
Also, had the results for what they were testing for been positive, it would have most likely been a life-threatening diagnosis. I had to wait 14 days for those results—luckily, they were negative. So, April was stressful and rough, and I only had it in me to make blog post. The one I did post was actually because most of it I had written at the end of March, before I went to the hospital, and all I had to do was edit it. I literally edited it and posted it the very first day that I felt somewhat recovered. But then I took a dip again for another week. Then it was my birthday and all my energy went into doing a couple of fun things for my birthday!
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know I went out on my actual birthday for a Taylor Swift album release party with my friend, Emily. A couple days later my brother and his wife hosted me for a lovely lunch. And then, the following weekend, my friend Amber and my mom hosted a Garden Party Afternoon Tea for me. That has been about all I have been able to to manage, outside of bed rest, for the past month.
So, now that I am 1 - not in the hospital, 2 - not stressed about test results, 3 - recovered from the side effects of procedure, and 4 - past all my birthday festivities… I can finally write on here again! If you are curious about the vague hospital stuff I just mentioned, don’t worry, I promise all the details will be in a forthcoming post in my series about My Life With Long-Haul. So, stay tuned!
With all that out of the way, I wanted to share some good news with you! Many of you may have noticed that Aries season was an absolute shit show this year. Astrologically, there were reasons why. 1 - We had a difficult eclipse on March 25, and a difficult eclipse on April 8. Now, while these are very cool and fun from an astronomy point of view, they are ROUGH from an astrology point of view. “Eclipse Season” as it is known, is very chaotic energy. From about a week before the first one, to a week after the second one, we are in that eclipse period and things just get super chaotic, ungrounded, rough and clumsy. If you noticed that, you are not alone. In fact, my procedure gone awry and hospital stay were right smack dab in the middle of the two eclipses, and frankly I mostly blame them for what happened to me.
Additionally, we were in a Mercury Retrograde. If you read the piece I wrote about astrology on Jan. 19, then you read the astrology 101 lesson I wrote where I explained how all that works. Here it is if you haven’t read it or need a refresher. Essentially, Mercury is the planet of communication, and when it is in retrograde it is moving backwards and it makes all of our communication go haywire. We misunderstand each other. We forget to hit send on that important email. Technology goes nuts.
Mercury Retrograde happened for pretty much all of Aries season this year, AND it means that it was happening in the sign of Aries. Also, the Apr. 8 solar eclipse happened in the sign of Aries, too. When these astrological/astronomical events happen, they are always happening in a sign. Wherever they are at in the sky/astrology wheel at the time it happens, is the sign they are in. And whatever sign they are in, they take on the vibes of that sign. For instance, a Full Moon in Libra is very different than a Full Moon in Scorpio. The aspects of the planet, and the aspects of the sign, come together and amplify those traits. So, depending on the traits of each, it can be harmonious, or it can be chaos!
As an Aries, I can tell you we are impatient, temperamental, forward-moving, action-oriented, fast-paced, and will not shy away from conflict. When you take a Mercury Retrograde, a period of time that moves backwards and makes things go slow and get messed up, and you put it in Aries…the Aries energy butts heads with it. Aries frustration to the max with the slowness, backwardness, and messed-upness of the Merc. Ret.
Also, when you take a solar eclipse and all of the ungrounded chaotic energy that it puts forth, and you mix that with Aries traits, it is a huge cosmic punch in the crotch.
And, depending on what house Aries falls in for you (again, something I explained in this previous article), it impacted everyone differently on a personal level. Whatever the house it was for you, it was going to impact what that house is in charge of. If Aries is in your 4th house, it had to do with family issues. If it is in your 2nd house, money issues. Etc.
We also had Mars in Pisces during that time. Also not a super cohesive union. Mars rules Aries. Mars is the planet of courage, battle, passion, aggression, war, bravery, conflict, forward movement, initiation, etc. It is fiery. Pisces is a slow, patient, intuitive, sensitive, watery, dilly dally, go with the flow sign. Those two energies are pretty opposing. So, things just didn’t feel aligned.
Here is where I have GOOD NEWS for you! May is awesome!!!
Venus in Taurus - 4/29-5/23
Ok, I am a few days late getting this info to you, but you still have plenty of time. Venus is the planet of love, relationships, beauty, art, and creativity. Venus rules the sign of Taurus. When a planet moves into the sign it rules, it is very happy there. AND when it is a planet that is so full of love (Venus), and in a sign that is so chill (Taurus)… it is major good vibes. So the planet of love is happy because it is in the sign it rules. And the sign it rules, Taurus, is a chill, stable, grounded sign that revolves around personal values and loves luxury, self-care, and treating yourself - those are some good calm vibes and exactly what we need after all that chaos.
If you have any type of creative project you have been meaning to get to - NOW IS THE TIME! Work on it a little bit every day from now until May 23. Finish it and/or release it into the world on May 23 and it will flourish! (Also, May 18 is a really good day for it too. I will get into why those dates are so good later on.)
Now, if you know what house Taurus is in for you, you can pinpoint even further what specific area of your life this beautiful astrology is happening. Like, if it is in your 5th house, that is your house of self-expression, creativity, sex and children! If it is in your 9th house - that is travel, higher learning, philosophy, etc. Once again, you can learn how to figure all this out in my previous astrology article. Even if you don’t know what house it is in, just sit back and let the good times roll. Enjoy the chill vibes. And work on whatever creative project you’re being called to.
Mars in Aries 4/30-6/9
While Venus in Taurus is supplying you with all the creativity and happy vibes and good luck to work on your creative projects, guess what Mars in Aries is providing you?! The ambition, courage, and energy to get it done! YES!!!!! Could there be a better combo? Mars rules Aries (just like Venus rules Taurus). So Mars is happy in Aries. And it is giving you all the motivation, fire, energy, and courage to do the damn thing!! Use this energy and couple it with the Venus in Taurus energy and make your stuff happen baby!! The cosmos is on your side.
May 7 - The New Moon in Taurus is sitting with Jupiter and Venus!!
The New Moon is generally an excellent time to plant seeds, set intentions and manifest. This lunation cycle (from new moon to new moon - going through all the moon phases in about a month’s time), starting May 7, is the literal best one all year to work with in terms of planting seeds for long-term goals and manifesting what you desire. The Moon in Taurus is very happy there, they get along very well. And the fact that Venus is there, and we already talked about what happens with that, and because Jupiter is also currently in Taurus—that is PRIMO good vibes. Jupiter is the planet of luck, prosperity and abundance. Ok, 1 - New Moon equals good time to manifest. 2 - New Moon is in Taurus so it’s extra good. 3 - Venus (lovey planet) is also there with it so it’s extra extra good. And 4- Jupiter (lucky planet) also in Taurus with all the rest of it, so extra extra extra good. Do you see what I am saying here?!?? There is so much good stuff together on May 7. MANIFEST ON THIS DAY, PLEASE!
May 18 - Jupiter Cazimi with the Sun!
When a planet is cazimi with the Sun, it means they have come together. The Sun lends its bright, radiant energy to the planet that has joined it, and it amplifies the traits of that planet. Jupiter is the planet of luck, abundance, and prosperity. The Sun is ENERGIZING those things!!! In my opinion, every year, the day this transit happens is the luckiest day of the whole year. Last year, I used this transit to get my very first professional article published In Business Insider. This year, this transit is occurring in Taurus. What house is Taurus in for you? That is the area of your life that will be amplified in magically good ways. If your Rising sign is Taurus (which mine is), you are literally the luckiest one. When it is in your rising sign, it is extra good for you. But, it is truly good for everyone, regardless.
May 23 - Venus conjunct Jupiter, Venus sextile Neptune, Jupiter sextile Neptune, and Full Moon in Sagittarius!!!
Ok, so this is actually tying with May 18 for luckiest day this whole year. Whoosh - ok, buckle up…here we go. 1 - This is the last day of the Venus in Taurus that I talked about earlier. So, the creative project I told you to start and work on from now until May 23, this is the big culmination moment for that. It’s a very good thing. Then, 2 - Venus (planet of love, beauty, creativity) is coming together and meeting (conjoining) with Jupiter (planet of luck abundance and prosperity) in the same place. These two things together is the most beautiful, harmonious boost of loveliness. 3 - Venus sextile Neptune. This means that they are at a harmonious angle from each other (60 degrees apart). Neptune is the planet of of intuition, idealism, spirituality, compassion, dreams, fantasy, and artistry. Your wildest dreams and fantasies can come true when these two planets come together. 4 - Jupiter sextile Neptune. Planet of prosperity, luck and abundance makes a harmonious angle with the planet of your dreams. An excellent pairing. 5 - Full Moon in Sagittarius. You know how I said you use a New Moon to plant the seeds, start the project, and manifest? Well a Full Moon is where you see the projects to their finish line and it reaches its peaks and there is heightened activity. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and is a sign of excitement and adventure and it invites you to say “YES!” and take the plunge. ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING ON MAY 23!
So, in a nutshell:
1 - Venus in Taurus now until 5/23 - start right away on a creative project or something exciting that you are feeling called to do.
2 - Mars in Aries now until 6/9 - use the motivation, drive, courage, energy and passion of this to work on that thing I just mentioned in #1.
3 - On May 7 - Use the New Moon that has ALL of that really good stuff going on with it, and work with the moon and your guides to manifest the f*ck out of it.
4 - On May 18 - If that project is ready at this point, you can release it this day (or wait til May 23). If you wait til the 23rd, you could perhaps use this day to tease it to people? Or reach out to someone that could be a helpful resource for this project? You don’t necessarily need to release it this day, but you should put something out into the universe having to do with it so that you can use this beautiful energy to help it along. (Or you could use this day to get luck and prosperity with something totally different going on with you other than this project.)
5 - On May 23 - Use the Full Moon and literally every other possible amazing things happening this day, and let this project reach its peak and culmination. Put it out there. Or put the finishing touches on it. Do something to use this energy to make this thing happen/culminate in an abundant way.
As for me, I knew since the beginning of the year that the 7th, 18th, and 23rd were really good. But I had not realized, or put too much thought into, starting something on Apr. 29 to see through til May 23 with the entirety of Venus in Taurus. And I did my weekly reading late at night on Apr. 29, after the day was over. At first, I thought “oh no, I missed the first day of starting to get to work on this. My reading says I should do a little something with it every day.”
Then I realized, “wait a minute! Today I contacted the Celtic Reiki teacher in England who I am going to be getting training from and I paid her and we set the schedule.” Then, I looked at the weekly training schedule. Guess what day our last training is scheduled for? May 23. The very day it peaks. Guess what I will have learned how to do by that time? Heal myself. (Because level 1 Reiki is just healing yourself. I can’t work on others until completing level 2.) Guess what house this is in for me? The 1st house. My rising sign. The house that is the most abundant and personal for me. The house that is my relationship to my body. The sign that determines my future. I will literally be trained to work on healing my body with Reiki during this period of time. WHOOSH! And I intuitively did that on Apr. 29 before I even knew that was the day to start.
So, if you aren’t totally sure of what to work on, think back to Apr. 29 and see if there is anything you started that day, any ideas you had, or anything that resonates for you. And, look at what house Taurus is in for you and see if you can find a theme there, too.
So I am going to use this period of time (4/29-5/23) for my Celtic Reiki level 1 training, and going to use the May 18 cazimi to send out my book proposal to another literary agent. Also, I used a good astrology day recently to pitch another article to Insider and it was accepted! So, I have another Insider article coming out in the next month or two.
And, at midnight tonight, I had a podcast episode come out on Woo Woo Bestie’s podcast “Unbranded”. You can listen to it here. Basically, she is a content creator on Insta and TikTok who I became obsessed with a few months ago. I saw she had a podcast, and I decided to dm her and pitch myself to be on her podcast. I know, ballsy, right? Well, she responded and agreed and we recorded it a couple of months ago and it is soooo good and I am so excited!! And I am really hoping that this connection with her and her followers could hopefully lead to some abundance with my book and/or writing and/or content, etc etc.
Folks, let that be a lesson to just put yourself out there. I get rejected constantly. I have sold 2 articles out of about 100 pitches. I have dm’d ppl that have never responded or have said “no”. I did theatre and stand-up comedy and didn’t get cast and bombed more times than I can count. But, I promise it isn’t the end of the world. Just put yourself out there and try. Because, a couple of “yes’s”, feels a million times better than the sting of a thousand “no’s”.
If I can have a chronic illness that is making me bedridden 85% of the time, causing above average atrophy on two of my brain lobes, procedures sending me to the hospital in excruciating pain, giving me fatigue that research has shown is the equivalent of a normal person not sleeping for 3 days, causing me to live with my parents, plus a million other things, and I can sit here and be excited for the future and not lose hope and keep putting myself out there, then YOU CAN TOO. Not gonna lie, I am kinda my own damn hero right now. Don’t even care if that sounds arrogant. I deserve it. Plus, I am an Aries, this is how we roll.
Use this astrology to be brave and go for it. If it doesn’t work out the way you expect, I promise you it doesn’t sting that long. The pride you feel for going for it far outweighs any pains of something not working. And honestly, with this astrology, I just honestly do not think you can go wrong. Something may not go as you expect it, but it is going to lead to something really really good. I have no doubt in my mind. You will be proud of yourself for having courage and gumption. It’s a damn good feeling. Because, if you never try the thing, it’s never going to happen.
