Inauguration Healing
“How wonderful it is that no one has to wait even a minute to start gradually changing the world.” -Anne Frank
Hello friends,
I know for many of us this week has been tough, to say the least. Anyone who is sad to see our country once again be in the hands of a modern day dictator who’s evil and ignorance knows no bounds. And this time around, has completely bound himself to tech billionaires to create an oligarchy that will help carry out the dangerous misinformation, hatred, and idiocy he loves to spread.
In my last post, I talked about all of the major astrological shifts of 2025, and how they pertain to this terrifying regime, and how it lends itself to us rising up and taking the power back. If you didn’t get a chance to read it yet, I highly recommend you do. Even if astrology isn’t your thing, but getting rid of Trump is, I think it is worth your time.
In it, I talked about an astrological transit that is move for move, sign for sign, day for day, the exact same transit that happened at this exact time 8 years ago. It took place during his inauguration last time, and for the first time in 8 years, the exact same transit is happening again during this inauguration.
Additionally, I pointed to other historical events and the world affairs tied to them. History is literally repeating itself, and I am toeing the line between falling into the depths of despair over the idea that it seems we, as a collective, aren’t learning from the past—and doing everything I can to tap into an energy that I believe will help shift the collective back to a place of love instead of fear. This post is about that energy and what I have done this week to stay in it, and my hopes that more people can join me and that it can make it difference.
I’m sure many of us are already in a dark enough headspace, that we don’t need another article about the doom and gloom. And, I’m also assuming that many of us don’t want any toxic positivity right now. I know I don’t. I want to do my best to write this from a place of total authenticity, and be able to convey that I am in no way trying to ask anyone to see the bright side or look for the good in this.
Instead, this is another call to action. It is up to use to fix this situation and get our society to a place where there is a bright side. We can’t sit back and hope someone does it for us. We also can’t succumb to overwhelm at the scope of how much needs to change. Believe me, it is easy to be overwhelmed by the scope of how much needs to change. But, if we do that, we become completely ineffective, and things fall apart even more. Which is exactly what Trump and his cronies are banking on.
Every single little thing that every single individual person does adds up to something. And all of those things add up to something bigger. I urge you to please see your power in this situation. I know it feels small. I feel small. I wonder, “what am I supposed to do? I am chronically ill and spend most of my time at doctors appointments or resting. How much of a difference can I make?’ Well, the answer is, I can do enough small things to lead to a big difference, and you can too. You just have to remember that everything you do does make a difference.
This week has had 2 major parts to it for me in terms of “Inauguration Healing”, and I want to share them with you. One of them is woo woo as hell, and I firmly believe it is crucial. The other is really really hard for me to do, but I am committed to not being complicit in this moment in history. I hope that in communicating these to you, that you are able to find some pieces that resonate that you can consider doing, as well. And/or that it helps you come up with some actions you can take. If you have any suggestions of things you are doing to aid in the movement we need to get out of this current dictatorship era, and you feel like sharing them, please leave a comment with what you have been called to do.
The thing I have done this week that has been extremely tough for me, is getting off the social media and apps controlled by the people in Trumps’s pocket. I talked about this a bit in my last post, and I have even more updates on it this week.
The only social media I am currently on is this one you are currently looking at as your read this, Substack. This platform does have a social media feed that I have been posting on and getting zero engagement. LOL. BlueSky, which I was getting zero engagement on but am now getting a little. I also created a YouTube channel that I plan to start beefing up soon, and currently have 3 subscribers—also LOL. And Red Note, which I just got on less than a week ago and already have over 450 followers and a video that has over 23k views, over 1000 likes, and 450 comments. But, most importantly, I am now in direct communication with people across the world that speak a completely different language and are so excited to connect. And, I have already learned some really amazing and valuable information about their culture that I think may make a big difference in my health.
To maybe a couple of readers, being on those 4 things may sound like a lot, but trust me, they are not. Here is what I deleted and deactivated:
1 - All Meta apps. Mark Zuckerberg getting in bed with Trump and getting rid of fact checkers on his platforms, and making the dangerous changes he has made, has led me to leave all of his apps.
I entirely deleted my account on WhatsApp, which yes, is unfortunately Meta.
I entirely deleted both of my accounts on Threads
I entirely deleted 4 back-up Instagram accounts and indefinitely deactivated my personal Insta, as well as my professional Insta. (yes, I had a bunch of back-up accounts that I used to like my own posts and try to boost my shit in the algorithm LOL)
I entirely deleted 4 back-up Facebook accounts (yup, same as Insta, used these to like my own shit. haha!), I entirely deleted my professional business page on FB, and I indefinitely deactivated my personal account.
***Please note that I have not been on Twitter/X in a LONG time anyways. If I was, I would have deleted that, too.***
2 - Amazon. Originally, I was planning to just try to use it WAY less. However, now I have decided to go all out and cancel my Prime and delete it entirely.
I canceled my Audible subscription
I canceled my Prime subscription (thus losing the $30 Wicked movie I bought digitally on there. SEE! This is why I have DVDs. Everyone teases me about the DVDs, but shit like this is when they come in handy.)
I deleted the app and am not ordering anything on there at all for the foreseeable future.
3 - TikTok. Last week, with the TikTok ban looming, I was completely up in arms about it, and was dreading it so much. However, after the recent news of their praise of Trump and the ties they are making with Trump, I’m done with TikTok, too. I have deleted 4 back-up accounts. I tried to deactivate my professional and personal accounts, but—it is a long story, but I had deleted the app and now I cant get it back. I can only access through the web, and it is not allowing me to deactivate accounts that way. So, I have to wait until the app is accessible again, and then I will delete my personal TikTok account, and deactivate my professional one indefinitely. In the meantime, I have currently locked it down to private, left an away message on my profile of “This account is inactive until TikTok is not in bed with fascist dictators.” And will not be logging into it or using it at all for the foreseeable future.
Maybe you think one person deleting these don’t make a difference. But, it does. Because there are people I know who saw my posts that I was going to be doing it, and decided to do it too. There were people that asked why I was doing it and what difference it made, and I explained and then they decided to do it too. And I hope that they can spread that message, and more and more people will do the same.
With all my back-up accounts and personal accounts, on all platforms, I have deleted a total of 17 accounts, cancelled 2 subscriptions, and deactivated/gone inactive on a total of 5 accounts. I deleted the apps and am not logging into, or using, any of the 5 inactive platforms.
You may wonder what that will do, even if I did go inactive on 22 accounts and even if a few people took my cue. If people are not active on these platforms, if we are not logging in, not using them, then they lose ad revenue. Then advertisers pull out of these platforms because they aren’t able to make money off of them. Then these platforms either go under, or they are forced to develop business practices that we are comfortable with. I feel remaining on these platforms makes me complicit with the practices and I don’t want to do that. And one person won’t make a difference, but if thousands and millions of people do it, then that can make a difference.
It is very hard for me to be off of these apps for several reasons:
1 - I was doing everything I could to build a following and a brand on my platforms in order to further my preferred future career. Without these platforms, and all of the progress I was making on them, I have almost nothing to go off of in terms of trying to sell my book, share these Substack posts, and create content that would help the career I’m trying to build. However, none of those things are as important to me as my integrity, and my personal integrity did not feel in tact if I stayed on them. Therefore, I lost all of the time, energy, money, and hard work that I put into trying to beef my platforms up.
***I do understand that there are people who literally make their livings on these platforms, and who run businesses that see most of the profit coming from them. I do not envy the position all of this puts them in. I understand why they can’t just leave them like I am. I wasn’t making any money off of them. If you are one of these people, and looking for ways you can make a difference without leaving the platform, I am told that “ad blockers” are a good route to go. Also, I would say that logging in as little as you have to, not scrolling, not interacting with posts, not looking at and clicking on ads, should hopefully help too. I hope we can find other places for your online business soon, as I know all of the people leaving them will be a negative impact, and I am so sorry for that.***
2 - It’s also hard to leave them because, for the most part, I really like social media. I was able to stay in touch with a lot of people, I was able to share my work, and I was really truly learning a lot from other people. But, I will make a better effort to stay in touch with people I want to stay in touch with, and I am actually learning a lot on the other apps so far. I will just have to go out of my way a little bit to find interesting topics to look into. And, honestly, I’m getting A LOT of time back in my day with not being on all of these time-wasting apps. Being able to focus my attention on just a couple of platforms makes things easier and less time consuming. Plus, I believe that there will come a time when something better will replace them. Whether that be other platforms, or perhaps these platforms being forced to do better.
3 - I was addicted to them and this is like quitting cold turkey and that is HARD.
4 - There are a lot of things that I can’t get around where I live that I could only order on Amazon. It will not be easy to figure out another way or do without. But, I have a feeling I am going to get a lesson in being much more responsible with money.
There are a handful of other reasons that this all feels especially hard. But, it’ll be a lot harder when all of these evil tycoons take over to the point of us living in a nation that isn’t free. I would never forgive myself if I didn’t do what I could, when I could, to try to put a stop to the road we are heading down.
And, doing this felt healing during this inauguration week. It felt good to hit the delete or deactivate button. It felt good to type out in the box that asked my why I was leaving that it was because I wasn’t going to support their unethical business practices. Being off of these apps and not seeing all of the posts that would just make me anxious and upset felt better than if I was doom scrolling. On top of that, I found some joy and connection with people across the world on Red Note. I plan to write more about some of the things I’ve learned on there in a future post.
The other thing I focused on this week to smooth over the inauguration terror, was doing a bunch of my woo woo things, and I wanted to share that with you, as well. Essentially, I believe that many of our issues are born out of fear. I believe that at the root of hatred is fear. Even my hatred is coming from fear. My hatred of Trump and his philosophies are a fear for the future of this country and the people in it. I am afraid what will happen to my loved ones who are trans, who are gay, who need abortions, who are minorities, who are disabled, etc. I am afraid of the aggression and ignorance that he spreads is creating a world full of people with no compassion, who are further spreading hatred and fear, who are leading with ignorance and selfishness, and who don’t believe actual facts and are aligning with dangerous misinformation. I fear the fear he creates.
I’ve started to realize that the more we fall into fear, the more it shifts the collective energy towards a place of fear, and making decisions based on fear. And this takes us away from love. Fear is the antithesis to love. The way he has convinced his supporters to be afraid of immigrants, therefore leading to a hatred of immigrants, takes people in the opposite direction of love. They are leading with fear, which moves them into hatred, which leads away from love. Making decisions based on love, rather than on fear, seems like the clear way to go, but that’s not what is happening.
Literally science tells us that “As some parts of your brain are revving up, others are shutting down. When the amygdala senses fear, the cerebral cortex (area of the brain that harnesses reasoning and judgment) becomes impaired — so now it's difficult to make good decisions or think clearly.” (Northwestern Medicine). It also says, “Fear is experienced in your mind, but it triggers a strong physical reaction in your body. As soon as you recognize fear, your amygdala (small organ in the middle of your brain) goes to work. It alerts your nervous system, which sets your body’s fear response into motion. Stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline are released. Your blood pressure and heart rate increase. You start breathing faster. Even your blood flow changes — blood actually flows away from your heart and into your limbs, making it easier for you to start throwing punches, or run for your life. Your body is preparing for fight-or-flight.”
Trump has created an army of supporters out of using fear as his biggest tactic. And we have a huge number of people who are not operating at a peak physical and mental level because fear is causing parts of their brain to shut down and become impaired. Then it becomes difficult to make logical decisions and judgments or to think clearly. And your body literally goes into a fight or flight mentality.
Now, I also believe there are people that vote for him who are not necessarily his “supporters”, but rather because they are sticking with their party at all costs or something along those lines. Trump may not be their favorite person, and they may not buy into all of his BS, but they have somehow decided that they still need to vote for him. Whether it be out of selfishness or lack of compassion for others who don’t have the same privileges they do—they have their reasons I suppose. Regardless, there is still fear involved with that, though. Fear that if they don’t vote for their usual party they won’t have…(insert whatever it is that causes people to vote that way here—money, pro-life, religious stuff, whatever it may be.) A fear that their own personal preferences and issues won’t be upheld, and the quality of their life will suffer.
But when people are gripped by the fear that he invokes, they can’t operate on all cylinders. And that does not just include his supporters, that also includes anyone who hates him—myself included. I can’t possibly operate on all cylinders if I am giving into the fear that he promotes. And I do understand I am saying this from a place of privilege and that is is much easier for me to not be scared than it is for others. I am scared in terms of my disability benefits. However, I am not going to need an abortion, I am not a person of color, I am not impoverished (yet), I am not trans, etc etc. My personal rights aren’t at stake quite the way that other people’s are. And I don’t blame anyone for being scared.
However, I realize that if his supporters keep acting out of fear in such detrimental ways devoid of logic, compassion, and reason—then can’t the same happen to anyone who is acting out of fear on the other side of that coin? And when the majority of people start operating from a place of fear, then the energy of the collective is one of fear, and that shifts our whole universal vibe to one of fear. Then way too many people are operating from a place of a brain that is not firing on all cylinders and are going into fight or flight.
“If Trump wins, I am moving to another country,” are things that people say out of fear. Whether they move or not. It is an immediate fight or flight response. The only people who can actually make that a reality are people who have enough money to do so. And, if all of them did, they would be leaving behind vulnerable people who can’t afford to leave, and need our protection, help, and support. As much as I would love to get out of this country and away from this nonsense, that would only be serving me. If I’m here fighting back, then I am serving the vulnerable populations that I claim to be voting for when I vote against Trump and his regime.
So if we have everyone operating out of fear—both sides—then the evil people in power use that against us and they just keep taking advantage of the situation. Fear makes us unhealthy, not productive, unmotivated, complacent, stuck, and basically a slew of other things that cause us to be inactive. We shut down and stop trying. We give them an inch, they take a country.
Realizing that I needed to work to shift the universal energy towards a place of collective love and not collective fear, especially this week, I sat at my altar and did my best to harness that. I did not watch any inauguration content of any kind. I shut off my phone. I meditated on shifting from collective fear to collective love. I did energy work and reiki on healing and shifting our society to that place. I worked with my guides on cleansing the universe of this damaging fearful mentality and replacing it with beautiful loving energy. And I worked with some goddesses and angels on this at my altar.
I believe that if we can come together and focus our attention on those things, we can shift this energy away from fear and towards love, thusly removing this fog that has settled over people’s brains. A fog that leads them down the path of making these dangerous decisions because they are operating via panic.
Think of it this way, if you stay in a state of constant fear, will that change who is President? Will that change literally anything for the better? All of these things exist whether we spend our time in alarm or not. Deciding not to be afraid doesn’t mean you are deciding to be ok with the state of the world. But it does lead to acceptance. We have to accept this is where we are. Acceptance of the current situation is the only way we can work towards change. Accepting it doesn’t mean you are ok with it. It just means you are being realistic with where we are. The shit that Trump is going to do is going to happen whether we are afraid or not. So, being in a constant place of panic is not going to change things for the better, and it is just going to make you much more ineffectual.
However, if you try your best to not be in a constant state of fear, and try to operate from a place of love, then we at least have a fighting chance. You won’t be making yourself sick, you’ll be able to operate on all cylinders, and you’ll be putting a positive energy into the world rather than adding to the negative energy that is so pervasive right now. I am not advocating for toxic positivity. I am advocating for moving away from fear and hate, and letting love be the guiding force in our decisions.
And, I know it isn’t always possible to not be afraid, and that there will be times when we feel scared and negative, and that is ok. But I do believe that if enough of us can get to a place where we our driving force is love at least 80% of the time, then we can move things in the direction we want it to go. I’m not saying it will be easy, but I do think it is necessary. And if enough of us do our part, then every little bit adds up to a lot. And that can actually make a big difference.
Acting from a place of love doesn’t mean I’m saying that you have to compromise your morals, values, and boundaries. You can love people and act from a place of love, and still have strict guidelines as to who and what you give your energy to. In fact, I would argue that when you do prioritize your health with boundaries, that is some of the best love you can show—to yourself and others. Compromising our boundaries just actually leads further down to a place of fear.
Simply, if the decisions I make and energy I put out into the world are coming from a place of love, then I believe I will have what it takes to fight for the change as best as I can.
So, my call to action is this—
1- could we set aside ourselves, and deactivate and stop using businesses and platforms, at least temporarily, that are contributing to the immense harm that the Trump regime is enacting, no matter how hard it is to give up? Knowing that the more of us that do it the bigger difference it makes in the money these tech overlords make, therefore leading to significant change. And, at the very least, if this is not possible, as I do truly sympathize with the people who run their businesses there, could you commit to finding other platforms and not interacting on with ads on these platforms?
2- could we all focus our attention and energy on shifting our universe to a place of collective love, rather than collective fear? However that looks to you? It is different for everyone. But focusing on letting the fear go, so we can operate from a place of logic and compassion, and therefore shift things the direction they need to go.
3- come up with things that feel like action to you, and commit to doing those things. Things that aren’t fun, are hard, and make us uncomfortable because it matters. Because they make a difference. Having the hard conversations, sometimes cutting off contact, stopping or minimizing orders from the convenient places if they are attaching themselves to Trump, taking some of that money and donating it to a good cause, finding other ways to fill our time that don’t have the ease of mindless scrolling, signing up to volunteer at the cause that matters. What other things can you do? Leave a comment with any ideas you have. I have also signed up for volunteering with Planned Parenthood. My first phone call with them is tonight.
I want to leave you with the messages I received during the energy shift work I did, as well as a quote from the angel who was prominent in my session. These things felt healing during inauguration week. These things helped me shift over to love, from fear. I hope that some of them can help you, too.
1 - Inauguration was on MLK day, which was so much insult to injury that it hurts. So, focusing on some of his work and quotes felt like a very positive energy shift when I sat down to do this. The quotes that resonated during my sessions were:
"Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase." We do not see the light at the end of the tunnel right now with Trump taking office. We have to take action anyways. We have to have faith that taking action will matter.
"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward." Every single small step you take and thing you do matters. Not everyone can do the big stuff. You have to do what you can. We can’t let fear take over and paralyze us into inaction.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: Only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only love can do that." Pretty much what the last half of my post is about, so I will not expand any further on this one.
2 - I worked with 2 goddess oracle decks—Goddess Power Oracle by Collette Baron Reid and Goddesses of the World by Relmi, Sacha, and Silvia Damiano. I chose to only work with Goddesses because right now, a lot of tapping into divine feminine energy is needed to counteract the overabundance of masculine energy happening in the world. Feminine energy is not limited to just women. We all have feminine and masculine within us, and the characteristics of our feminine side are what are needed for balance right now. The goddesses that came to me during the session were the following, and here were their messages:
Arianrhod - Time - “Fear has a strange and unusual ability to contract time. You can always course correct. Patience and dedication are your allies now. No matter what is in front of you, time is your friend.” This is going to take time guys. Let’s accept that, and be dedicated to the work.
Elen - Patterns - “Familiar patterns show up when you fall asleep at the wheel of your life or when you expect things to be a certain way out of habit. Whatever conditions are recurring for you right now, you are being invited to see them as an opportunity to move beyond the limits of your expected disappointment or habitual behavior. If you do what you have always done, then you can expect the same patterns to continue. If you want different results, you have to do things differently.”
Shakti - Transformation - “All of your longing, desire and focus on something better in life, coupled with your willingness to do the work, has ignited the life force energy of Shakti. Now is the time to move into the highest version of yourself. Shakti will help you when you are open to doing things differently. Sometimes people and situations come into your life as the kind of change agents to turn your life upside down. What you thought was real and expected is challenged by someone else’s perspective and behavior, which you have no control over. This can be deeply painful and confusing. The feminine aspect of the universe and Shakti remind you that you came here as a spiritual being, learning to co-create the world anew. “
Dewi Danu - Practice Kindness - “Observe the importance of unconditional love and compassion. Open your heart to the suffering of others, and practice kindness and empathy. Bring healing and comfort to those in need.”
Mawu - Awaken your Divine Feminine - “Honor the interconnectedness of all living beings. Awaken the divine feminine energy within you and recognize it as the source of life and creation. You play a crucial role in creation.”
Oshun - “Radiate love and kindness, and you’ll attract the same in your life.”
Oya - Greet Change Openly - “Embody a fierce and unyielding spirit as you navigate through transitions, knowing that change is the catalyst for growth and evolution.”
3 - I practiced Celtic Reiki during my sessions, and the Celtic Ogham oracle that presented itself for this universal collective love healing session was Coll—the hazel tree. It represents enlightenment, knowledge, wisdom, and connection to the divine. We must use these principles to move forward in our quest for change.
4 - The angel that was ever present in this session, was Anne Frank. I used a postcard I bought from her house in Amsterdam. There is a quote on it that feels very important and pertinent in this moment, and this is the quote I have been focusing on. She said, “How wonderful it is that no one has to wait even a minute to start gradually changing the world.”
And there it is folks. Think of what that brilliant, sweet little girl went through. Think about being able to write something that beautiful and enlightened in the situation she was in. Now look around you and where you are. Things aren’t perfect, but you are not hiding in an attic to save your life right now. You still have power. Let us not get back to a similar point in time with our current government body. Please understand your power in this moment. Remember how “wonderful it is that we do not have to wait even a minute to start gradually changing the world.” Do some things that feel hard, but important. We cannot let history repeat itself.
I strongly encourage us to not become paralyzed, complacent, stagnant, and rooted in fear. I ask that we focus on shifting the energy to collective love and act from a place of love, even when that means doing hard and sometimes drastic things to take action. I urge us to keep moving forward. Even if it is gradual and slow, moving forward with love and action is always better than moving backwards with fear and inaction.
I want to offer anyone reading this a free Celtic reiki session if it would help you feel better. I can do it via Google Meet if we do not live close to each other, and I can do it in-person if we do. Please email me at krista.m.atkinson@gmail.com if you would like to partake in this.
Sending you much love,
Krista
