“I Don’t Want to Wait” My version of the Paula Cole “Dawson’s Creek” theme song
This is admittedly one of the dumbest posts you will ever see from me. You have been warned.
I came of age in the heyday of Weird Al, and was always a very big fan. Ever since then, I have written song parodies, and silly poems. During quarantine, I found myself passing the time writing more of these, and posting videos of me doing them to my social media. Just call me ‘Weird Krista’ – Weird Als’ long lost sister!
Here is a song parody I wrote about wanting my iced tea to be cold from the start. I am taking requests for anyone that wants me to sing this to them. Just comment on this post, and we will work out a time for me to call you and sing it live, or to text you a video of me singing it. I am dead serious.
Ok, here goes - “I Dont’ Wanna Wait…. For My Tea To Get Colder”
So open up the morning light
And pour me a glass of tea
You know that if you do not put in ice
Then the tea is no good for me
She had two ice cubes, one was big, one was wee
In the fall of ‘94
Every wet glass leaves rings, every ice cube melting
When she thought it was Teavana calling her
Oh, would her tea grow to be colder?
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
I want to drink it now, my tea
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
Will it be cold or will it be melty?
The tea showed up too warm and melty at the dorm
With loose tea leaves floating within
And the ice she saw melts inside it still
It's so hard to be ice tea and warm
The moments pass by and now is too watered
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
I want to drink it now, my tea
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
Will it be cold or will it be….
You look at me from across the room
You made the tea wrong again
Believe me I know the feeling
It sucks you into the jaws of anger
So steep the tea more deeply my love
All we have is this melting glass
And I don't want to drink this tea
And it’s warmer, and watered down
I want it to be cold now
So open up the morning light
And pour me a glass of tea
You know that if you do not put in ice
Then the tea is no good for me
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
I want to drink it now, my tea
I don't want to wait for my tea to get colder
Will it be cold or will it be melty?
